An Introduction to Telco Revenue Assurance

Telco Revenue Assurance is quickly becoming the new “buzzword” in the industry, but how many people really understand what it is, how it works, and how it can be used to effectively solve problems.

Building a Telco Revenue Assurance Data Warehouse

Many organizations are finding that the easiest  and fastest way to accomplish many of their revenue assurance objectives, is through the development of a revenue assurance warehouse. These data warehouses can range in size from the 100 gigabyte to the multi-terabyte range, and can provide analysts with access to all of the information, all of the history and all of the details they need to do an effective job of revenue assurance, at a fraction of the cost of other types of solutions.

To learn more about how to build a Telco revenue assurance data warehouse, and how other Telco's are making use of this approach to effectively deliver revenue assurance value, then tune in to this webinar.

Revenue Assurance for Network Operations

In telecommunications the network is both the beginning and the end of every issue and for a Revenue Assurance team, the network operations presents a unique set of challenges that must be dealt with. Outdated network infrastructures, and eclectic mix of devices, computer systems that communicate in a language all of their own and data that is passed to your mediation system in a completely unreadable format are only a few of the problems that must be dealt with.

In this class we consider these special challenges and some of the many techniques that can be used to address network revenue assurance.

TRA05

Revenue Assurance for Mediation

For most revenue assurance groups, the mediation system represents the first stop that revenue information makes on its way to the customers bill. Mediation systems are some of the largest, most unwieldy and difficult to understand of BSS systems, and learning how to harness the power it contains to help you to prevent, and to investigate and resolve revenue leakage issues in invaluable.

In this class we consider the role that the mediation system plays in the revenue management chain and some of the different reports and audits that you can use to make it more responsive to your revenue assurance needs.

Revenue Assurance for Prepaid Operations

The development and delivery of prepaid services has represented a boon to most Telcos. With prepaid customers you eliminate credit risk (well actually you don't you just move it around), and you create an environment where billing isn't necessary.

But assuring your prepaid revenues can be tricky and challenging. Intelligent network and other "black box" components can make fraud detection and revenue leakage prevention extremely difficult especially when the traditional and test CDR audit stream is bypassed or disabled.

In this session we review the many different aspects of prepaid revenue assurance, and consider some of the ways that Telcos are tightening their audit capabilities in these areas.

Revenue Assurance for Interconnect and CAB

Inter-carrier traffic represents one of the biggest sources of accounts payable, or accounts receivable for many carriers today, and the incredibly complex world or inter-carrier billing and settlement provides a hotbed of opportunities for fraud and revenue loss.

Some of the biggest and most successful applications of business intelligence to revenue assurance have been situations where data mining or data warehousing were used to help carriers to identify settlement discrepancies (saving them millions of dollars in flawed settlement claims0.

In this session we will review the mechanics, issues and techniques that can be utilized to help assure interconnect and Carrier Access Billing situations.

Fraud Management for Telecommunications

Telecommunications companies are some of the most vulnerable businesses in the world when it comes to fraud. With an infrastructure that is so incredibly complex, and a business environment that is so volatile, it is incredibly easy for employees and savvy customers to figure out ways to bypass normal proceeds and "steal" millions of dollars worth of services.

In this session, Rob Mattison considers the overall subject of Telco Fraud Management, identifies the many different areas and aspects of assurance, and considers some of the industry best practices in fraud prevention.

TRA09

Revenue Assurance for Roaming Operations

Roaming revenues can represent a serious percentage of the revenues that many wireless carriers make, but managing and reconciling roaming revenues requires that billing systems be bypassed and enhanced, while at the same time integrating other carriers, or clearing-houses, into the operational mix.

In this session, we consider the "typical" roaming revenue assurance support chain, and consider the major issues involved in assuring those revenues.

TRA12

Revenue Assurance for 3G Operations

Most wireless carriers today have either already deployed 3G services, or are in the process of planning on it in the near future. Unfortunately, the rapid pace of deployment, combined with competitive pressure to roll out services quickly often leaves the carrier with a revenue management chain that is 'less than stable'.

In this session, we will consider the many different areas of revenue leakage vulnerability that are common to 3G deployments, and show some of the ways in which these can be identified and prevented.

The Business Intelligence “Triple Play” for Telecommunications

In this presentation, Rob Mattison will provide an overview of this exciting trend in telecommunications. He will discuss how the playing field is being changed by: business intelligence competency centers, ETOM-based scorecards, convergent warehouses (data warehouses that combine and blend revenue assurance, network operations, customer relationship management, and marketing information) and the new generation of consumer behavior analytics.
